| Thank you for supporting Women’s Centre of York Region’s The Ripple Effect Forum. At that event, we asked you to:
Thank you for making a big ripple in York Region. The Ripple Effect CampaignEvery day we make decisions and choices, big and small, which make ‘ripples’.At Women’s Centre of York Region, we witness the impact of those ripples, both positive and negative, on our clients and our community. We know when we help a woman regain self-esteem and control of her life, the impact goes far beyond her. Her children and family feel the positive ripple and in turn make their own ripples – her son does better in school with a full stomach and an eager mind. Her employer gets her focused effort and her community benefits from her renewed participation. Our ability to start that process begins with support and donations from individuals and businesses in York Region. In 2009, the state of the economy created a significant ripple for us – on average, demand for our programs grew by some 46% in less than 9 months. This caused us to consider not only how can we manage our operations but how can we contribute to the broader community at a time when many businesses and individuals are also feeling the impact. And thus The Ripple Effect campaign was born. Through this campaign we want to increase awareness of the work we do and opportunities for businesses and individuals to get involved. But we want to do more. We want to find people and companies that share our belief that by being more conscious of the impact of our actions on the environment, on people and on the community, we can ‘influence posi+ive’ .We want to find ways to support and help the companies that support and help us. We want to make business, individuals and the community at large part of our Ripple Effect – becoming partners in making York Region an even better place to work, live and play.
