Individual Donors
|
|
Individual donations can be made at any time of the year. 100% of donations support our programs and services. Donors can specify whether they want a donation to benefit a particular program or ask us to use the funds where they are most needed. If donors provide a name and address, Women's Centre of York Region will provide a tax receipt within one week of receiving the donation. If an anonymous donation is preferred, your privacy will be respected and we thank you for your support. We have some very specific opportunities for individual donors to help Women's Centre of York Region: In honour of...WCYR is introducing a new way to make a ripple. We have developed three photo cards for our “In honour of” program. This is a way to make a donation in honour of someone special – in memory of someone, a gift for a teacher, Mother’s Day, birthday, or anniversary or simply to send good wishes. You choose the card and we will send out the card to the honouree or send to you for your own delivery. Simply choose the card and call or e-mail Shelley Chidlow schidlow@wcyr.ca to honour a special person or event in our community. Choose from our three options: Hope (photographer Danielle Koren) Hope is our most precious treasure. A donation to Women's Centre of York Region sends out ripples of hope to a woman, her family and her community.
Dandelion (photographer Danielle Koren) Dandelions stand for wishes coming true. The dozens of seeds released by each flower head represent fertility and abundance. The seeds’ journey illustrates a time of clothing the past and a symbol of hope for starting something new. It also symbolizes faithfulness and happiness, affection returned, sympathy and love.
Daisy (photographer Sophie Bilé) Daisies are a symbol of truth, loyal love and purity. The word comes from an English word meaning “day’s eye”, or an alternate word for the sun. All meanings of a daisy flower are positive in nature, so a gift of one sends affection, warmth, and happiness.
Monthly giving...We know that there are certain times of the year when people tend to give – December is probably the most popular. One of our challenges as a non-profit agency is that we need more Decembers in order to provide support to our programs year round. We are encouraging people to consider monthly giving, which is a way to help us year round. We also know that for many, it’s easier to pay $10/month than write a cheque for $120. We can process monthly giving through credit card or cheques, so if you would like to help us have Christmas in July, please contact Shelley Chidlow at schidlow@wcyr.ca or call 905-853-9270 x107. Online DonationsFor those who prefer to donate online – please use our Canada Helps donate button – it’s easy, safe and secure. If you prefer to donate in person, we accept cheques, Mastercard, Visa or cash donations. The Starfish ProgramAs illustrated in The Starfish Story , small actions can make a big difference. Through Women's Centre of York Region's Starfish Program, individuals can donate as little as one grocery gift card which will directly support one woman and her family in our Last-Week-of-the-Month food program. To find out more, please contact Shelley Childlow.Holiday Hamper Program
